Netflix officially renewed Wednesday for a third season in July 2025, even before the premiere of Season 2. Filming is scheduled to begin in November 2025, with an expected release date in late 2026 or early 2027. The show’s creators, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, have expressed their commitment to delivering the new season more promptly than the nearly three-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2.

Jenna Ortega will reprise her role as Wednesday Addams, with Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmรกn, and Emma Myers returning as Morticia, Gomez, and Enid Sinclair, respectively. The Season 2 finale introduced Aunt Ophelia, who ominously wrote “Wednesday Must Die” in Grandmama’s basement, setting up a major plot thread for Season 3.

Season 3 is expected to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding Nevermore Academy and the Addams Family. The show will continue to explore themes of supernatural intrigue, dark humor, and the complexities of teenage identity. Details about specific plotlines remain under wraps, but fans can anticipate more of the show’s signature blend of mystery and macabre comedy.

In the Season 2 finale, Enid Sinclair transformed into her alpha werewolf form to save Wednesday, then mysteriously vanished. Emma Myers, who portrays Enid, has expressed her desire for Enid not to remain trapped in her wolf form and hopes to see more unity among the Nevermore Academy core group in Season 3. Additionally, Enid’s relationship with Isadora Capri, a new werewolf teacher, will be explored further.

Co-creators Gough and Millar have hinted that the story may span up to seven seasons, reflecting the duration of Wednesday’s schooling at Nevermore Academy. Additionally, a top-secret spinoff focusing on another Addams Family character is in early development, with Netflix executives expressing enthusiasm about further exploring the Addams universe.
