Cobra (1986) is a gritty action film directed by George P. Cosmatos and starring Sylvester Stallone as Marion โ€œCobraโ€ Cobretti, a tough, no-nonsense cop who operates outside the law to fight crime. The film follows Cobra as he is assigned to protect a witness, Ingrid (Brigitte Nielsen), who is targeted by a violent cult known as the New Order.

As Cobra takes on the ruthless criminals threatening Ingridโ€™s life, he must also confront his own dark and solitary nature, which only intensifies the action and suspense throughout the film. With his signature one-liners and intense persona, Stallone delivers a performance that has become iconic in the action genre.

The film is filled with over-the-top action sequences, including car chases and shootouts, with a strong emphasis on style and tough-guy bravado. Cobra was marketed as a gritty action thriller that perfectly captures the eraโ€™s love for antiheroes and extreme violence.

Though it received mixed reviews upon release, Cobra has gained a cult following over the years, celebrated for its bold, 1980s action film aesthetics and Stalloneโ€™s larger-than-life portrayal of an invincible cop.
